Personally, I havn't gone past three in each ear. That being said, if you like the way it looks and can afford all the earrings you will need, hey, it's your ears. Go for it. Remember that piercings in the cartelidge take longer to heal, need more care and can be more painful. If you want multiple piercings in each ear, it is best to do them one at a time, heal in between and then do the next one. This makes healing a bit easier and cuts your risk of infection a bit.
Enjoy your new holes.

Well I have been a job recruiter most of my life interviewing young people for career jobs. If I encountered someone like you with five piercings, that I could see, anywhere, ears, nose, lips, eyebrows, the interview would be really short, curt, neat, legal, and you would realize, even before you got the decline letter in the mail, that you really were not fit for the job position. Oh well, or so it seems to me.
The average public does not want to be distracted by having to deal with a person who thinks more of his/her personal and obvious unusual habits than with the matters that they seem to be there for to assist them in their quest of purchasing whatever that was they came into the store for in the first place. Whatever.
Of course, if you are articulate, smart enough, and adept enough, to land a job where you can visit the public via telephone, like if you were going to be a stockbroker, that never has to meet their clients, then go for four, five, hey why not ten piercings in each ear! Check the various methods out on www.tattoo.com or www.bme.com and spend the rest of your time checking out the various ways you can modify yourself. Again, and again and again, there really is no end. Whatever. Go for it. It's your life. Or you could try going to some church of your choice and maybe find another way to go that will be even more forceful to your countenance. Oh well, or so it seems to me.

I have 4 in one ear & 5 in the other, I say if you want to do it than do it. The good thing about peircings is that you can always remove them. (yeah I know the holes show a bit but it's not as bad as getting a bad tatoo or something)
& to answer someone elses question, getting your ear peirced really doesn't hurt all that much, it really depends on your tolerance to pain

3 is plenty, if not too many. If you get 5 you might start picking up radio signals.

5 seems like it would be too much. I have people that I know that have that many and it is distracting.
