Because the people in power make the laws. Its the same thing as why cigarettes and alcohol are legal and mariguana and other drugs are not.

Legalizing prostitution will not prevent rape. Rape is about power not sex. Prostitutes get raped, old ladies get raped and guys get raped too.

Prostitution shouldn't be illegal. A rape occurs every 5 minutes in the United States, and if legalizing prostitution would improve that, then I support it. A person should have the right to do whatever they want with their own body. Legalizing it would also decrease STD's from spreading around.

Just to start off on the right foot.. In many areas stripping, depending on the degree of exposure, is as illegal as prostitution.
And even in areas where it's legal, many a community has picketed and harassed a strip club into failure.
Many a successfully operated, legal, strip club have even been brought to their knees not by local or state laws or even by local harassment but by neighborhood pressure politics influencing their states liquor authority's enforcing unrealistic code violations causing repeated suspensions or even loss of licensing.
Ultimately the bars/ strip club's are forced into financial failure.
The simplest answer to your question is that we're a country where the few weld the influence to establish laws we all lazily, continue to live with.
It would appear the oil industry, and like corporations, govern and sets business ethics, rules and laws, and wars, not only in our country but throughout the world.
Religions, like every corporation, are lead by men,(not God) are rich in dollars and ambition, have, unfortunately, been allowed to strongly influence and even, govern our laws and moral standards.
Alas, thing's like abortion, prostitution and homosexuality have become legal issues due to moral standards.
Now, having said that, let's address the question,..
" why is prostitution illegal?
To start with, prostitution, considered the world's oldest profession, is not illegal everywhere.
Ironically, even here, in the United States, in Nevada, there's a section where prostitution is as legal as pumping gas.
There are countries throughout the world where prostitution is legal and thriving.
It could be argued that it draws a criminal element and that's an undeniable truth, but and however,..
so doe's every profitable business. They just wear a better, more expensive, wardrobe. Not to unlike the corporate officers of "Imeron".

they just hate the way its fast and "easy" money, but its too many to stop, you see prostitutes all the time but they look normal so they're also hard to find, but prostitutes always be the ones that cant get a job cuz of no experience or no college dgree (they couldnt afford it) so its somewhat like an occupation cuz they actually NEED the money

do you mean striping? because when you strip, it's technically dancing which means if you could making stripping illegal, it's like making Cirque du Soleil because they basically dance with out clothes and it's look more as entertainment.... prostitution is selling your body for sex and that's not looked at as entertainment. It could also be more of a moral issue. this is just my personal opinion...
