I think the American public should open their eyes. The UN may often look impotent, but they have expressed concern about certain USA methods

We have a military that could squash every other country except China in under a week without even bothering to re-introduce the draft.
If we so desired we could substantially close our borders and stride across the world in a way the Romans only creamed of, handing out retaliation so severe it could ruin a country overnight for harm to befall any citizen.
If we desired to terrorize any nation we could with airpower you would never see except for the explosion of the bombs.
If we knew the whereabouts of any hostile leader we could eliminate him from the other side of the world using an unmanned drone and smart weapons.
But we don't. We respond to attacks on our citizens and central war department with a limited engagement against a country sponsoring the specific terrorists who attacked us (Afghanistan) (we by no means went all out there).
When a dictator attacked a close ally, we did not level his country, we simply forced him back and at a tme when he was completely defenseless, we offered a cease-fire. When he attempted to assasinate our president and develop WMD we imposed sanctions (they didn't exist at the time of the invasion, but they once did and the capability and desire to have them still existed). The only reason it is an issue now is that the post war effort was handled very poorly - if the original plan had been followed (2x as many troops to enforce order while a new government was set up) we would be mostly out of the country and heralded for our actions.
We tried a return to isolationism. Bush made it clear when he took office he did not desire to involve the US in foreign matters. The result? Within 9 months Israel and thePallestinians were killing each other at a record rate. Pakistan and India were rattling their nuclear sabres and calmly discussing acceptable losses in a nuclear war. Civil wars that had been cooling reheated across Africa. Eventually we were still attacked. Since we have become preoccupied, 2 rougue nations have greatly advanced their nuclear programs.
Terrorism against who? Name any nation now or in the history of the world which would show so much restraint if they had our power.
Terrorism? Attack us off 1 too many times and you will most certainly wake 1 night to discover a new definition of terrorism.
Otherwise sleep well knowing that we still use the UN (an organization we took a lead in forming), still act with tremendous restraint, and unless you are N. Korea or Iran, rest knowing that should any agressor pour its troops across your borders, directly or indirectly, we will find a way to repel him.
...and befoe you mention Israel, know that we will ensure they will eventually withdrawl under our insistence and that if the Pallestiians ever organize under a unified governemnt ready to abide by the laws governing nations, we will ensure they have their country as well (and be glad it wasn't the US you were lobbing rockets at).

Are you suggesting that the USA commits acts of terror, or are you refering to the acts of terrorism that the USA has been a victim of? Either way, I think the UN is a big pile of crap that's just there to make some idiots feel like they rule the world.

The USA is not engaging in terror activities. Terror activities are unorganized random acts of violence with the aim of creating terror and disrupting organized political systems. The USA is engaged in freeing everyone from terror.
