Remember, the US is very slow to react to situations they are not accustom to regardless of where and what the nature of the situation is. The person responding by saying any American living in an Islamic country are probably terrorists themselve, is clueless and really don't know the circumstances as to why Amerians are in Lebanon anyway. There are Americans living and working in war torn countries all over the world as there are foreigners working is various states in the US. Again, the US can not respond to situations in war torn countries because our political leaders can't agree on what needs to be done, how to do it and when is the best time to do it. Our political leaders knew the situation prior to the advance stage of the war and they did nothing, so what does that tell you.........

That's the law that's on the books, if you get repatriated by Uncle Sam you owe Uncle Sam. Usually Bush gets bashed for ignoring the law, not observing it! It's not like they're asking for the money up front or do a means check, and $200 is seems pretty reasonable for what they're getting. If someone is there working for Bechtel or whatever corporation it seems pretty reasonable that the company reimburse the taxpayers for the ride. A lot of the other Americans in Lebanon would be coming home after summer holidays in any case, so the weren't planning on a free ride home. They can get refunds on the return portions of their plane tickets and then settle up with the State department.
I don't know that the response is so slow. Lebanon is a former colony of France so it's natural that they could move more quickly there. It seems to me like the State dept. and the military are doing the very best they can under the circumstances.

the us has a lot of things but a magic carpet that fly's at the speed of light, they don't, that just goes to show you just how impatience and unthankful the us people are, they put the soldiers down for being over their to save their butts from having the fighting come over here, and we can't get to someone with in seconds of a emergency or disaster like Katrina, and people go in to a tirade, they can only do so much GET REAL

Its already been stated the US is not going to charge the US citizens for the evacuation. But honestly - unless the US Government put the citizens there I think they should pay for needing our government to get them out.

Canada is having the same problem too ... some of our people even died just a couple days ago. This whole middle east thing is a major mess that will screw up Bush's party for the next election, I hope.

it truly is a not basic one because I do see your element yet a number of them are dropping homes, and so on... puzzling to come back to a decision. It jogs my memory of homes on the sea coast then a hurricane comes and the authorities alternatives up the examine for fixing them. So, i imagine they ought to ought to pay some thing. sure, i'm sympathetic at any loss they could undergo yet like you stated, they knew it became risky over there.

Actually, I think they dont care about the US citizens. The politicians get first class seats and no waiting in line. My best guess would be, they dont really care to get you out in a timely manner, cause if you die, then oh well.
but they have to make it look like they are trying.

Our government isn't charging our countrymen money to get out of Lebanon. They are at war and we are trying to evacuate our citizens as quickly and safely as possible.

It is amazing its a know fact that when the bombing started Bush got on the phone and told Israel to stop bombing the airport so that repairs to made long enough for three flights to take place............then the bombing took place again.......So my Question is logically who were on these flights?..............Why isn,t Israel being asked again to stop by Bush?
