Plastic has changed the way we have lived, and many people don’t realize how hard our lives would be without it.
Plastic is not good garbage because it does not decay safely in the environment.
Although several types of plastics do appear to be safe, some have been shown to potentially affect health, such as PVC (or vinyl), found in some cling wraps and toys, and polycarbonate (PC), found in baby bottles and tin-can linings.

It may well be worthwhile to consider reducing their use of plastics, for the sake of our health and our world.
Occasionally plastics are still improperly used and draw negative comments.
The thousands of successful applications that contribute to the quality of our life are seldom noticed and are taken for granted. But if it is properly applied, will perform functions at a cost that other materials cannot match.

Look around you! Probably 50% of what you see contains plastic.

Just looking on my desk, with out plastic, I would have no:

soda bottle
Computer (keyboard, mouse, monitor casing, tower components)
pager
phone
carpet
fan
binders
CDs

Each of these items solve a problem. If plastic wasn't invented or unavailable, substitutes for these products would have to be made. A soda bottle...a soda can. Carpet...ceramic, stone, or other natural flooring.

Plastic provides a cheap, lightweight solution to many problems. It does not degrade quickly as can some natural materials. It's insulative properties means it is great to use with electricity and electric powered devices. Replacement of plastic with other materials (such as metals or wood) would likely stress the supply of other raw materials, driving up prices.

This is just what I can think of off the top of my head.
