14k electroplated means an object (ring or necklaces) that was coated by 14K gold (about 60% gold and 40% metal) through the process of electroplating.

It means 14 karat gold (fairly decent, but not the best) and electroplating is a process by which the gold leafing is transferred onto the metal (if it is quality jewelry the metal is sterling silver).

Piece is only dipped in 14K gold & only coated with it, usually over another alloy, not necessarily silver; it does wear off, in comparison to not being electroplated.

It's a gold coating on top of a less precious metal. electroplating is a way of "magnatizing" the less precious metal to get the liquified gold to "stick". In other words, it's not full gold jewlry, just a gold coating that you see.

it means that the gold is 14K, it does not mean how thick the plating is. cheap stuff.
