The old arguement about design and random chance.
Ever put string, or a power cord away and found it tangled when you go to use it again? That is random. If you go and buy a new one it is nicely wrapped and packed - did that happen by accident?
You and I are not perfect. We are due judgement for everything we do wrong but there is a unique religion, the only one like it, where we can be forgiven of all our wrong doing.
Man we are in training to run the universe, totally awesome!
Not from what we do but all because Jesus, the Savior, took our place.
Anyone who would do that wants us happy and successful!

The answer to this question comes from within one's self. Everyone has their own ideas concering why they are alive and what their purpose may be. For example, I believe that my purpose in life is to fully understand my connection with the rest of nature (including other people), and utilize that connection to tap into my personal power and become the most enlightened individual I can possibly be. Other people have different motivations and goals in life. To believe that everything and everyone is "one big accident" is nihilistic and non-productive. Without meaning, life is a very long waste of time.

You put this question in the "Psychology" part of Yahoo. Psychology is one of the Social Sciences. As a science it does experiments and tries to prove or disprove theories. Your question is deeper into iife than can be answered by science. Science can measure adrenaline levels in the blood when you are angry or frightened, but the scientist must ask you, 'Are you angry?' 'Are you frightened?' He can not really prove it by brain waves or adrenaline levels. So, if it can not be proven or disprove, then science can not answer you. Many people think that if science can not prove it, then it doesn't exist. But that is not how science works. If it can not disprove something, it can not say it doesn't exist.
When you use the words 'reason, and purpose' you are asking if an external reason or purpose exists outside of your life to give it meaning. Those who do not believe in God will say it is an accident. Those who believe in God will say there is a reason.
So far, science has not been able to either prove God exists or does not exist. Each person has to decide what they believe, and choose to act on that belief.
;-D Choose love. It works for me!

Hmmm....good question. Yes I believe there is a purpose to life. I haven't found out why I was placed on this earth and what my life long purpose is and most likely I never will. It is too big a question. I have heard people specify what their life's purpose is. They however are always financially set and their lives are one of leisure i.e. they do not have to worry about money. Ever. Because bottom line is if you have to work to live then you will not have ALL the time in the world to devote to what your purpose on earth is. I know it is not work that is for sure. Because if you love what you do you would never call it work. I believe it is an extension of your greatest passion.

We're born in this world to live ...to live the life as already plan by God ....but we're able to change our own destiny ....work hard , do good things & have faith .....positive thinking & try to look for better alternatives if we're able to .
Most of the time , we wished we're born in a rich & famous parents..BUT on the other hand the children in that house wish that thre're not born in there ...all have reasons...again we've to learn to appreciate things in life & that is the most difficult part of our life .
There will always a reason for everything & it can be one big accident...as an example: after got married in less than two months , my hubbie gone bankrupt....it's very sad & all what I plan for can't be fulfilled ! Just try to look at the positive side & just leave the burden to God & on the other hand we try our best .......

I agree with some of the stuff above. It really is all just one big accident. None of this was intentional, we werent put here for a reason or greater purpose. Humans, given our sense of self-awareness, really just suffer through life. We know we will die and there is nothing we can do about it. We desperately try to cling on to it but to no avail. That is what seperates us from other animals. They do not have self-awareness thus they can not grasp the concept of death nor do they care; they merely try to survive.
Yes, I know I went a little off topic but thats pretty much what it all boils down to.

Nope, its all intentional. No evolution soup. We were made and formed from a perfect God. You even have a purpose in asking this question...but only you and God know what the reason is. Go to drdino.com for more answers. Explore the site. Its worth looking at and spending time there, even if you are an evolutionist.
This is a great question by the way. Simple yet really makes folks think. And this question must be asked....but it also must be answered. I hope the link helps out with you finding your answer.

Depends how one looks at it.
If you have faith, and believe there is a creator to this world, then you would understand that there is a reason for being in this world.
The reason is to do as many good deeds as we can, be kind, help the poor, visit the sick, respect others and their lives, help someone without a job get a job, help those that are not fortunate to be married and have kids find the right match, do random acts of kindness, oh yeah, do not kill, do not steal, do not cheat on your wife/husband, etc....
Once we do all of these we get many rewards, kind of like points yahoo gives out, then when we get to the World to Come, when our soul departs our body, we reap the benefits of the rewards we got. But we must remember, once we are dead and not in this world, we CANNOT do these acts of kindness to get rewards, because we will already know the truth ;-0
Stay strong! Everything happens for a reason!

Most of the people think there is a reason for life...for death...for everything....if absolut evil does not exist...only the absence of faith....what proof do we have to believe that there is a purpose to life...but then again...what are the reasons not to believe?...so from one question we go to much more...personaly...i think that there is a hidden reason...that can only be revealed by a genious mind like Einstein...who can use more than 15% of his brain:D

Everything is just one big accident.
There is no reason or purpose for us being here... it's all just chance.
Mix and match the right chemicals under the right conditions forever, and you'll eventually get life. That's probably the story of our universe.
