Seems like every one i check out has problems. American or Japaneese. I had a 99 Ford Explorer, loved the size and roomy interior, and had no mechanical problems...some guy driving a stolen vehicle lost control and totaled my SUV. So now i am on a search for something compareable in price and size.

try a toyota rav4 my mom bought a 2002 with 80k miles and loves it. or a sazuki gs6, i think .it has more power but a rougher ride. if you like the explorer then get a nether one. the only thing i found wrong with those is the tranny i replace them ofter at work. i do like the rav4 for its smoth ride and dependability. mom has had hers for about 1 year with no problems. no matter what you get go to your mechanic and have him check it out. this will help you save money in the long run.

Do you really need an SUV? If you live up north, a big 4X4 does nothing for you, front drive or an AWD subie will do it for you. If its because you have kids to haul around, suck it up and by a minivan or a station wagon. If its because your big...well, I'm 6ft6 and fit just fine in a Honda accord- if your big in another way...well, time to go on a diet if it requires you to drive an SUV. If you absolutely must have an SUV, a recommend a Toyota Rav 4, Honda CRV, or ford escape like vehicle. with a four-banger, of course. Seriously, gas cost $3 a gallon, and its only going up. The more SUV's on the road, the more demand we have for oil, the more gas cost! It's time to be more practicable!

Toyota SUVS suck...

Honda are great..but pricey..no problems though

Chevy SUV's are excellent..the Blazer 96+ you could easily pick up for under 10. and there very nice compared to Ford. try to find one that has less then 100K....

The wife just bought a 2003 Durango for 6999. Very nice once you replace the front wheel Bering's. You've got to be able to afford the gas though.
