Oh yes, they most certainly do! My mother has histrionic personality disorder, which partially means that they lie to make themselves look attractive, appealing, etc. And she believes everything she says! Its difficult to understand why but they do! What a mess!

I met one once and I couldn't tell. Up to a certain point I believe they do, but one can never tell how much of what they say they believe.
