So asian brooms have traditionally been made out of somewhat flexible dried plant reeds.
Dust usually doesn't get pushed by one stroke of these, and brooms are generally used to push dust around. That means that it takes a lot of strokes to move dust around, and a smaller broom is easier to use for that.

Asian Broom

Because American brooms are horrible. They get split on the ends and grab hairballs until eventually they start dropping more dirt than they actually pick up. Especially that hdx broom. Never ever ever ever buy an hdx broom. Worst broom on planet earth. Buy an Asian broom, they are sooooo much better just like most Asian tools. Asian tools have been around much longer because they WORK. Yet for some reason America decides they need to design their own bullcrap that doesn't work half the time. American made woodworking tools are even worse than their brooms when compared to Japanese woodworking tools.

The steps a ritual must have are these: Personal purification Ambient purification Casting the Circle Invoking the Goddess and the God (depending on the chosen ritual) Specific ritual for the ocassion Simple feast (optative) Dismissal, thanks and circle opening. We can divide the steps that a ritual must have into three: opening, ritual itself and closing. The opening includes the steps to the Invocations, starting with the personal purification. This is simply a ritual bath, maybe using herbs, to cleanse our physical body. The ambiental purification is similar, and here includes a ritual cleansing of the space where we're going to work... traditionally using a wig broom, but any normal broom will serve. Needless to say, we're not talking here about leaving everything sparkling clean... it's supposed to be like this before starting. Then follows the circle casting, which can be found detailed in many books, but to put it simple, include the physical tracing of a circle around the sacred space, and the calling of the quarters. To end this first part, the invocations are made to invite the Goddess and the God to attend our circle. What follows invocations is more complex and personal. It needs to symbolise somehow what we want to achieve with the particular ritual, that's we need to give it thorough consideration before. We can also add a meditation to this, perform the simple feast or not, use or not divinatory means, and finally thank the Gods for their attendance, bidding them farewell. After this, we dismiss the circle, thanking each quarter before breaking it with an energic movement backwards with our athame.

I have Asian friends who use these - - the reason is because they can be used one handed more easily- you can carry the dust pan in the other hand and pick up as you go, are easy to store, and do the same amount of work in a quicker more efficient time period. Don't knock it till you try it!

because they work a whole lot better than the crappy stiff american brooms. and besided asian people are shorter so they would use smaller brooms. and again they just work a whole lot better than the huge stiff american brooms.

Make yourself purifying bath salts 2 cups of sea salt 3 spoons of Rosemary dried leaves 2 drops of mint essential oil 2 drops of sage essential oil Mix well and concentrate on purification, have a bath (no Rosemary if you are pregnant), visualize the bath salt bringing away all bad vibes from you and while you let the water get down the drain visualize all dirty energies going down the drain with it. Get up from the tub and visualize a white light shining on you and covering you purifying and protecting you. That's it :-) very simple :-)
