Goats are notorious for eating just about anything--like even "tin cans," if you remember your folklore. Who knows why they are like that, maybe because they are just lazy and will try and eat anything close at hand (head), whatever. It is really doubtful if they will eat something that will do them self-injury, they should stop before that happens though. And it doesn't mean you don't have to provide your goats with some ordinary food that animals like goats can eat for long-term nutrition. How long could you survive on a diet of just "tin cans," or saddle burrs for that matter, after all?

Goats can and will eat anything. Including grass burs. I take it you live in texas somewhere, me too. Our goats will eat every bit of green in a field if we do not move them periodically. They will even eat plastic grocery bags, so be carefull. If you have any nightshade plants, these are poisonous to goats. They are kind of prickly and have purple flowers on them and will grow out in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no water. Goats will sometimes eat them and poison themselves.
