You have to go to a department store inside the mall to get free samples. Any of the cosmetics counters should A) give you a free makeover to help you determine your best shades, and B) give you at least a free sample of foundation when you ask. Be polite and be prepared to purchase something like a lipstick or a mascara, something cheap, because those girls spend a lot of time helping people like this, and they don't get paid for it.

Don't use Mary Kay; Mary Kay has formaldahyde in it.

Always go opposite the color spectrum when choosing eyeshadow. If you choose a shade that is similar to your eye color, the only thing people will notice is the sparkle in your eyeshadow, not the sparkle in your eye.

If you have blue eyes, go with neutral tones, like browns, taupes, etc. If you have brown eyes, you go with jewel tones, like blues and purples. If you have green eyes, you can wear whatever you want.

75% of the people I know who have used Mary Kay products break-out from them, proceed with caution.
