I have been taking Yasmin for 6 years. At the end of last month, I was short on money, so delayed buying/starting my new pack for 6 days. I then resumed taking pills. I had sex on day 4 of the new pack. Would being off of Yasmin for less than a week leave me completely unprotected? According to the new pack (and my rockin' cramps) I am due for my period in the next 7 days, but I am worried. I go for my yearly pap smear tomorrow but i'm embarrassed to admit I started the pack late! What do you think?

Never be embarrassed to tell your doc about something like that. Believe me, they hear the same and far more embarrassing stuff all the time!

You're probably fine, but in the future you really should abstain from sex until you've been on the birth control for at least a week or two straight after you've missed a few days. Chances are though that your cycle was still thrown off enough that you won't be pregnant.

If you're still worried, get a pregnancy test tomorrow. At least that will put your mind at ease.

From the Yasmin website:
If you MISS 3 OR MORE active pills in a row (during the first 3 weeks):
* If you are a Day 1 Starter: THROW OUT the rest of the pill pack and start a new pack that same day.
If you are a Sunday Starter: Keep taking 1 pill every day until Sunday. On Sunday, THROW OUT the rest of the pack and start a new pack of pills that same day.
* You may not have your period this month, but this is expected. However, if you miss your period two months in a row, call your doctor or clinic because you might be pregnant.
* You MAY BECOME PREGNANT if you have sex in the 7 days after you miss pills. You MUST use another birth control method (such as condoms or spermicides) as a backup for those 7 days.

Don't be embarrassed to talk to your doctor - he/she is there to help you! Good luck!

as quickly as I see a youthful pregnant woman i do no longer decide except i understand the circumstances. She would have been raped. or despite if she wasnt she would have been in love with a boyfriend of 5 years. lets say it became right into a liked boyfriend if that they were jointly a minimum of a 365 days and a a million/2 and did what they did for the suggestions-blowing motives i see no reason to decide. They didnt do it on objective. There are billions of alternative youngsters doing the comparable issues they simply dont take place to get pregnant. There are adults who've one evening stands all the time so why is that ok yet a young person that basically so happens to get pregnant together with her bf of four months isn't ok? i think what im attempting to declare is a pregnant teen shouldnt be judged except you recognize all the numerous factors.

Do NOT be embarrassed to discuss this matter with your doctor. You are lucky that your appointment is so well timed. People do things like this all the time. You have to believe and realize that doctors like this hear about all sorts of stories and situations and I highly doubt they would pass any judgement. Seriously, I hope you will talk to your doctor, because they are in the best position to help you out. It's okay to feel shy in this situation, of course, but use the opportunity to get some sound advice! Seriously, they have seen it all, this is not going to be a big issue for them, I'm sure they hear it all the time.

First of all, chill out!! Don't get stressed or worried. This is the easiest way to get your system more off than it already is and produce false readings. I say go to the doctor and don't be embarrased. He deals with situations like these all the time. Just thank God that you don't have the doctor that I used to have. He knew my family personally, and although I don't believe that he would have told them anything, it was just creepy!
