No, Bush is not an idiot for planning to veto this bill. There are serious ethical ramifications that go along with stem cell research and though I personally am a Democrat, I fully suppost the president on this issue.

Yes he is. He keeps putting his immoral religion into play with all of his moves. What an idiot to get rid of something that can save lives. For god's sake how idiotic can he get?
I use to somewhat support him, but no longer, he has crossed the line. I know someone who has around 27 hernias due to an incident in which an overweight man was trying to escape prison during his shift. He in turned put the overweight man down and it caused him to be severely damaged.
He has had over ten different surgeries and more than likely he will never be cured because of that idiot. He has had this for around eight years and his tissue is way too weak to support his stomach causing all of his internal organs to bulge out. If he is touched there it can lead him into severe pain and could kill him.
He cannot lift anything to much, can't work, and has a terrible life. If the stem cell research would be used they could reanimate the tissues to help him live a more normal life. Bush is an idiot only prolonging the truth.
Over time, people get smarter and here in the US it takes a lot longer due to the fanatic Christians and their "morals".
Here are immoral actions that those of you who support Bush believe is okay:
Letting people suffer and die when you know you can help it.
Letting your religion take over supreme.
The stem cells come from non feeling substances; I will not call them human yet. The world is additionally over populating and the poor seem to have a lot more children which makes the economy overall based on lesser intelligence (this is not directed to the few who have a mind of their own and don't let the religion manifest through their lives)
Instead of throwing just two cents, let me add more on what his religion says is unethical: cloning.
I find this humorous and very sad, cloning organs will only as to perfect the genetic human flaws, but will of course take time. There is no such thing as playing god, get use to it. What is unethical is that the government gives welfare to the people who have ten trillion kids, that the FCC limits what is said on TV and internet, that people are allowed to kill animals just for the hell of it.
People who are not of that of which is higher, Jesus Christ open your eyes and find that these morals are not true morals. We need to put aside things that hold us back and move on to anew and live lives that are overall better.
Here is my fifty cents, not two. I normally do not type this long and I am known to type short, but this just makes my blood boil to oblivion.
Thank you.

The idiocy is in the denial of potential medical breakthroughs and long term solutions to some of man kinds worst diseases and maladies. What do you think he would believe if any member of his family had Parkinson's disease or some other disease potentially curable through stem cell research. What if one or both of his daughters were ill .... Note that Senator Bill Frist suddenly became a supporter of stem cell research when the hospital that his family has financial interest in would become eligible for stem cell research money after he leaves office at the end of his term. It's all about votes and money. It has nothing to do with the welfare and well being of the citizens of the US.

Idiot - No
Arrogant, ignorant, and misinformed - yes
Four and a half years ago, my father lost his battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. I am in favor of stem cell research because I believe stem cells were his (and millions of others) last hope. Never mind that the cells that would be used are discarded by fertility clinics every day. Never mind that every day the federal government withholds the funding that could lead to a cure for the disease that destroyed my fathers life. No one can take away our hope for a cure that, although too late for my father, may save countless other lives.
The hypocrisy is laughable if only it didn't hurt so damn much.

haha of course he is!!! you see, not only do almost all liberals support this, but half of the conservatives support it also due to nancy reagan's wonderful efforts. in all likelihood, this veto will isolate bush further and splinter the republican party, making it harder for them to win the next presidential election. on top of that, it is almost certain that the bill will be passed eventually due to its overwhelming support in congress and the american public (over 70% was the last statistic i heard...). So i thank you bush, you are actually helping the democrats with this veto.

Yes. It isn't an abortion issue since the legislation targeted embryos that are going to be distroyed.
I don't know why people don't understand this. If people would want to adopt the embryo it won't be avalible for research. However when it comes down to the choice of research or distruction and no other choices, it should be used for research.

I wouldn't say idiot over this issue (maybe some others, ports come to mind)... but I don't get what the problem is...
people have a funny way of changing their views when a child of theirs could be helped by this legislation...

Disease and it's cure placed on one man? Ethics on embryonic stem cell research require the knowledge that one potential life is null and void in the quest of healing those that have already lived to one degree or another....
I believe the answer here is quite clear. The thought of young new life being sacrificed for research and science....for the better good of the walking alive.....
excuse me, I have to puke...

Stem cell research holds hope for all of mankind. Bush lost his mind a long time ago. Maybe it'll help him too.
