Yes you might be suffering from back labour. I know once you have trouble sleeping and are so uncomfortable you can't wait. I never got back pains either until I went into labour. They call it back labour, and it can be aggravating. It was one of the most painful parts for me.

I'm two days overdue, my back's not too bad but I am also more than ready! Baby is very active, and he's lying across which means I've got his head sticking into one side of my ribs and his bum into the other. The rib pain is really bad.

If you go to the Dr or the hospital, they may give you Demerol which has no bad effect on the baby and will allow you to sleep. It's important to be well rested for the birth. Try walking and stretching to ease the pain, and a position called "Dromedary Droops" which you can find on any Yoga site is helpful to me. It does confuse my dog, tho - you'll understand if you look up the diagram!

You've been pregnant for so long, you're in the home stretch now. Hang in there! If you want you can e-mail me at lacticrat@yahoo.com - my name is Samantha, I'm 38 and this is my first baby.

Sounds like Back Labor, happened with both of my kids. Just try to relax, take a warm bath, everything you can think of to make it ease up. If none of it works, call your doctor ASAP. And I had the pain for a day or so before I had my second son. So I hope(for your sake!) you go into labor soon! Congratulations!!

It may take a little longer. I can't tell you to be patient. My 1st came 4 weeks early and was perfect and I got to take him right home. I so badly wanted to have the second early but it didn't work that way. The baby will come when it's ready. And when it does, you will wish, you could have waited a little longer. lol P.S. That picture is so beautiful.
