Have to say I would stick with the Honda Civic, that is what I own and I love the look of it and it is also reliable, and the resell on it is great if you get tired of it in a couple years you still have value. That is important as young as you are, because you will want something new in a couple of years
If you buy something that the value drops then you will be upside down on it.
Stick with Honda & Toyota.....

you may want to look into a MINI Cooper... I bought one not that long ago and it rocks! I don't know if you need a four door or not, but if you're cool with a 2 door (4-seater) that gets awesome mileage, you may want to check into it!
I'm 6'6" and the chair goes all the way back (so, it's really a 3-seater when I'm driving). The part that makes this a DEAL is that BMW (who makes MINI) covers ALL the maintenance and service for 3 years, 36K miles AND that MINIs have one of the highest resell values (if not the highest) on the market--so if you don't like it, you're not going to lose your shirt getting out it, even after just a year or two!
As far as performance goes, it drives like a go cart... fun, fun, fun!
Hope this helps. :-)

Any car with a good mileage. Mazda 6 is made in the USA and by the way, Mazda belongs to Ford. American cars are as good and reliable as any other cars. The differences in realibility you see in magazines are minimal. Ford Focus is also a good car and Honda Civic too.

Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, Pontiac Grand Prix, Mazda 6 if you want the family sedans, I would also get a Mazda 3, Honda Civic or a Nissan Sentra SE-R.

Honda Civic Si will rock... 190 hp, great reliability, easy re-sell and loads of power without guzzling gas...
Ford Focus has had more recalls than any car in history, chevys have almost no re-sell value, Mazda is good but is not as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.
also: Acura RSX..

AVOID american makes right now, they may not be around to honor their warranties in the next few years. If you want a car that won't break and hold its value, buy from honda or toyota.
P.S. Most "american" cars aren't even built in america- but most japanese cars are! confused? Check the VIN # to see where the car your looking at was built! 1, means USA, 2, Canada, 3, Mexico, J, japan, K, korea, W, germany and so and so on. I would buy a Honda built in Ohio before I'd buy a Ford built for el-cheapo in mexico!

A convertable Mustang of course. They are offering special deals and free gas until 2007 on the V-6 models. Its the best selling sports car on the planet, and they recently won a JD Power award.

A used Acura paid for with cash is the ideal car for you. It will last for hundreds of thousands of miles, looks great and you will save so much money vs new you can afford to buy two cars.
