Wheel bearing sounds like a humm and gets louder at moderate speeds and may get quiet at higher speeds. Rod bearing knocks at idle but can also be a broken flywheel if it's knocking at idle. Good luck.

it can be a roaring sound,,or a grinding sound,,or sometime,s a screeching sound,,it all depend,s on how bad it is at the present time,,they all have a different sound,,depending on the weight of the vehicle,,and which bearing it is if it,s a well built car,,and it ride,s real quiet inside,,it may sound like it is muffled a little,,unlike a small car that is not insulated so well,,you will really hear it,,i hope this help.s you some,

A rod may have a knocking noise and a main will have more like a rattle noise..

Your oil light may also flicker with main bearings bad,,but not always
