You can set the Bid limit as the reserve price. If the reserve price isnt met item wont be sold

Not only can you set the starting bid price, you can also set a secret reserve, so that if the price doesn't reach the reserve by the end of the auction, you aren't obligated to sell it for a lower price. That would probably be the best way to go about it. Plus, search on EBay for items similar to what you want to sell to see what the going rate is. If the price isn't what you were expecting, hold off for a while, especially since you are new, it may be hard to start selling. A lot of people are afraid of scams and don't buy from new sellers. Get your rating up by making purchases and selling less significant items (good quality of course) before breaking out the big stuff.

You always start at 0 bids, but you can set the price really low to shoot the bids up quick provided the product you are selling is good. You can also open different eBay accounts and bid on your own item if it makes sense.
