Sometimes I can find music on Dogpile.com. Just type in the artist and song title, and click Audio. You can usually find something.

Myspace has some songs that are able to be downloaded. You can't find all artists, but there's actually a bunch of well known songs that I've been able to download there. Myspace is also a great place to download music from local bands that otherwise don't have cd's or available tracks.
