Oh yeah, it's the funniest movie I've ever seen. Seriously, me and my friends saw the preview in the theaters and just started laughing at the top of our lungs... the rest of the theater was silent.

No, nothing in that movie was remotely plausable. They said they were between tectonic plates at Hawaii. C'mon!

Q. "anyone seen "the core"? "
A. Yes.

Q. is that possible?
A. Surprising, but yes, people have seen the movie "the core".

Q. the core of the earth stalling?
A. Let me check. Nope. It's not stalling. If you're asking is it possible that the earth's core could stall? Well, sure, but not by the hands of man. Even a nuclear bomb detonated at the core of the earth would have its energy absorbed by sixty-three hundred kilometres of liquid iron before it ever leaked out to the surface level. Now, if you are REALLY interested in destroying the earth -- and considering our current political status of "international redneck with too many cars in the front yard, a seventh-grade education, and a big gun", please, feel free -- check out the URL in the source for this answer.

If the core of the earth stalled like they say it did in the movie our bodies would speed up to over 1000 mph and go flying probably into outer space or explode into a wall thats if the core stop very quickly. I don't think it would be possible to stop the core of the earth and impossible to start it back up the way they did it.

Not at all.

A special place in the annals of bad physics, however, goes to The Core (2003). It features geophysicist Josh Keyes (Aaron Eckhart), who finds that the Earth's rotating iron core has screeched to a halt, thereby threatening the whole planet. Along with three other physicists - experts in materials, lasers, ultrasound and nuclear weapons - Keyes builds the Virgil, a vehicle that cuts its way down through rock and magma to the Earth's core. There the scientific team saves the planet by setting off hydrogen bombs that restore the Earth's spin. After a scene where Josh uses a peach to correctly illustrate the inner structure of the Earth, virtually every other scientific fact and activity in the movie is completely wrong. For example, the scientists in the film tell us that the Virgil is built from a magic material that gets stronger at higher temperatures; they blame the microwave radiation in the universe for melting the Golden Gate bridge; and use non-directional hydrogen-bomb blasts to impart spin to the core.

That movie was fiction. Totally. No way anyone could go to the core in a glorified space suit and live to tell it. If the heat didn't get them, the pressure would. As for the core stalling? There's no evidence of that. If the world comes to an end, it will be at the hands of man.

I sure hope not! Or we're really doomed, b/c I doubt the government is gonna send a team of people to the core to jump-start the Earth again.

In real life I don't think so...I don't really remember what happened in the movie exatly but I'm pretty sure it's not possible, especially what they did to actually go to the Core.

I saw th movie and loved it, but I doubt the core stalling will ever happen...the sun'll probably blow and kill us all before that could ever happen.

yes it is possible. and one day in the very very VERY distant future. it will happen. there is nothing we can do about it. but that wont happen durring our life time. so that is not something we need to worry about.

Seen it... it was pretty good. I thought anyways...

Hell, anything's possible. Who knows... it's never happened before.
