I believe you go through an agency who basically does the background check and screening for the celebrities. And sometimes you just get lucky with the people you know....my cousing babysat for Tom Berenger to work her way through nursing school and she got the job because my aunt was assistant manager at Hilton Head Resorts at one time and knew some of his friends and they thought highly of her and my cousin.
