Well,this works for me. I am a voluteer firefighter, so I am on call 24/7 . But when my pager goes off at say, 3am and the call is a structure fire with possibly someone trapped inside ! I know that I have to get to the firestation and on the firetruck as quick as possible ! When you get onscene and there is fire blowing out of the front door like a blow torch, you know that you are going in ! You knock the flames down enough to get in the door to find that the living room is fully involved ! You fear that the roof may collapse or that the floor may cave in, but you have to go because a child may still be in there ! You are running on pure adrinalin and fear but fight against tunnel vision because you know that is what gets people hurt. Luckily, your search turns up negative and the child was safe the whole time. You finish your firefighting duties putting out hotspots and ejecting smoke so that you can rack hose and wash the fire engine. You go back to the firestation, refill airpack bottles and go home only after you discuss the call and how you think things went.
