I don't see it as looking good for someone else but hygine.

This is my opinion, but I don't necessarily see it as a hygiene issue. If a guy can wash his face without hair on it, he can certainly wash with hair. As long as he keeps it reasonably neat, cleanliness shouldn't be a problem.
"I'm not trying to impress anyone" is pretty lame. I usually go with the truth: "I'm lazy this week." Or, sometimes, I just feel like growing it out for awhile.

Well its not hygine but looks! I know my guy doesnt shave sometimes because shaving everyday bothers your skin and sometimes your skin just needs a break. And if you love the guy then it shouldn't matter. I would take his comment as a compliment because that means hes only got eyes for you and that hes not wanting another girl.. So therefore theres no reason for him to get all dolled up. I think that every now and then a little ruggedness is sexy!

some guys can't be bothered to be groomed every single day. it has nothing to with hygiene (not bathing or brushing your teeth, now that's another story!!) just like how some girls will have a day where she may throw on some tracks, a t-shirt and a pony tail and hit the road! some girls love to wear make-up everyday even if they're just heading to the supermarket!! sometime your just not in the mood. most times, we groom ourselves to impress the public. if it were up to us we wouldn't worry about or do half the stuff we do to mantain ourselves! this goes for the men and the ladies!

I'm always trying to impress people. My excuse is that I was like totally too busy with my fabulous life to bother shaving.

Because having a beard is sort of a right of passage for men. And some people enjoy the look 5 o clock shadows give them.
It's sort of like deciding if you want dreadlocks or not. I don't really consider dreadlocks to be very hygenic.

THERE lazy. And then he'll say OH it hurts when i shave.i need to give it at least a week... next thing you know his beard is like 8 in. long....
