If your rental contract states that only those listed on the agreement can reside there then yes he can evict you. Also because you are always late on your rent he is probably getting in trouble from the owner or some sort of higher up because you continuously delay paying the rent until income tax time. In your initial rental contract it should state somewhere that if anybody besides the residents who signed the contract and people listed on it reside there past a certain time then they are obligated to pay extra rent. If it says nothing about extra rent and in place it states that it can result in eviction than legally he is just doing his job. Now even though your living situation has been like that since you moved in, it may not have been apparent to the landlord. If he did know then he is probably "tired" of having to wait on the rent every month and also the combination of too many people living there. So legally he can evict whether he has known about the amount of people living there or not if you are continuously behind on your rent he can evict you since it is breach of the contract that the full month's payment and/or late fees are not received.

Call the landlord and let him know that the electricity is off. Then call the police (not 911) if it's not back on in a couple of hours. You want a police report that states that the power was turned off for no reason.

Reason for Eviction? Im sure there is a 30 day clause for the eviction and your landlord cannot just mess with you.. I suggest you look over your lease agreement and go from there.. You can always call Judge Judy..

If he served you with an eviction notice, then he would have stated on the notice why.
you have to comply or move out.
There is a " renters hotline" you could call them.
If its for not paying and HE pays the electricity then hes right.

If you violated the lease agreement, get off the damn property. I have rental property and I do that all the time.
Just leave before the landlord garnishes your wages after you lose in court.

Why are you being evicted?

Wow - a computer and internet connection - with no electricity?

I assume you are putting us on as if you had enough money to have wifi and a portable battery operated laptop with internet access, you would have electricity.
