Are laxitives safe to use during pregnancy?

"Lactulose and magnesium sulfate are pregnancy category B. Casanthranol, cascara sagrada, danthron, docusate sodium, docusate calcium, docusate potassium, mineral oil and senna are category C. Casanthranol, cascara sagrada and danthron are excreted in breast milk, resulting in a potential increased incidence of diarrhea in the nursing infant."

Always consult your doctor.

However, many women find that the iron in prenatal vitamins leads to constipation. And there are some safe products--Colace is one, Metamucil is another--that might give you some relief.

Constipation seems like a laughing matter, but not if it leads to, say, hemmrhoids!

You can also, with your doctor's permission, try to stay away from prenatals that contain iron, instead getting your iron from foods. But you'll have to make an extra effort to eat right, and iron-rich foods, and you'll have to be tested for anemia more often.

You should be careful with them because you can easily become dehydrated. But constipation is a problem with pregnancy. Probably need to increase fiber. When I was pregnant I was able to take Senna tablets. They worked pretty good. Or try Metamucil.

only magnesium citrate laxative you need to ask your ob first though, it's nasty but it does work, ex-lax and stufff like that is to harsh on your stomach so you can't use them but always first consult with your doc.

Take colase or peri-colase, that is what the doc told my wife
