I think the black men who refuse to be with black women have self image issues.

They think they're higher up with a non black woman

They unconciously hate themselves for being black. It's a slave mentality that trickled down from one generation to the next.

No, any man can choose who he wants to be with based on his preference. That does not mean that he feels inferior.

Yeah that always bugged me too and I am white chick. I have had a couple of black men tell me they don't date black women like that is supposed to impress me. Let me say that I see no problem with interracial dating and I know some folks will say that people can have their prefs. But my theory is that if a black guy(really any guy) rules out an entire race, especially his own - that is a red flag. Run from that dude - ladies!

i'm not a guy so my opinion somewhat isn't all that correct to the question even if that is an similar reason that this style of large style of black women people refuse to this point black adult males. i have heard all the arguments from each and each facet and that all of them boil right down to an similar project: lack of recognize-how and shortage of self belief. on the coolest of the day, any black human being who may make sweeping generalizations about their own race understanding finished properly that the myriad of alternative sweeping generalizations that they hear almost on a daily basis directed at themselves (black women people are this, black adult males are that) are thoroughly pretend, is a dolt. end of tale. do not waste some time attempting to appreciate something that an sensible, properly-adjusted, knowledgeable human being in basic terms isn't able to appreciate.

Wow...that is deep. And you really might be on to something with that one... I am a white female and have several friends that are black men. And yes, they do tend to want to be with white ladies. I never really thought about it being because of their low self esteem, but you could be right. These men are also always playing the race card, stating that someone did this because they are black. or the other happened to them because they are black, etc. Great question, and great point!

I don't agree. For every "brotha" that refuses to be with a "sista," there is always another "brotha" that wants to be with a "sista." It's all about preference, and I have to say that the men that go outside our race, I have no hate toward them, or toward the women they happen to love.

But if the reason that they date/marry that woman is about their self-hatred, then they'll never be happy with the woman they get with, regardless of color. Self-hate precedes everything, and eventually destroys itself.

i have to disagree with your statement yes its wrong that people would not date some because of the color of their skin (even if the have the same ethnic background) but like you and me there are certain characteristics of certain people so we tend to date them more i my self am white but i am more attracted to black males than white males so i tend to date more black men than white men
