In backgammon I have declined to look at luck as a factor because in order to be lucky the other person has to be unlucky which is a much more randum factoring of the possiblities subject to probablity.

The Buddhist model on this matter is based on the concept of Karma, which can be atoning or adjusting to either the past or future.

There is no such thing as luck...just as there is no such thing as accidents. Everything takes place for a reason. What I used to consider luck was a result of my own efforts and a belief in something greater than myself. All accidents are wake-up calls or serve a purpose to enhance our spirits. Faith will carry you very far...and good things will come your way when you believe. I don't receive any more miracles than anyone else...I just see mine more clearly. its 60 - 40. but that 40 is only when there is fully committed 60.

60 is the hard work and 40 comes automatically with the hard work and that is luck.
