I am thinking about getting a tattoo...one that means something...I want it to have something to do with both of my daughters...I was thinking of maybe their footprints or something (from when they were born)...with their initials and birthdate with it, or their name and birthdate...I would like some ideas as to what you would have done if you were me...lol.
Please help me decide on what to get...if not something to do with the footprint, then let me know what else I could get...Thanks!
All ideas are welcome! :o)

I forgot to add this:
Where would be a good place to have the tattoos?

ummmm, ok. This is what I'm thinking about right now. Find a nice picture of each of your daughters. Get their baby book with the footprints. ok now, have the tattoo artist make a portrait of their faces inside the shape of their footprint. But do not outline the footprint. So when people look at the tattoo quickly they see footprints, but when they really look at it, they see that its the picture of your daughters inside their own baby footprints. And just above daughter #1's footprint/picture you have her name, and below it is her date of birth. And the same thing for daughter #2. I don't know if you understand what I'm seeing in my mind, lol, but thats what I think would be really nice and meaningful.
good luck

Hi, Kristy, my name is Hank. I got a tattoo when I was sixteen. I'm fifty-six now, and for the last thirty years I've wanted to get rid of it.

You should think long and hard about the permanence of tattoos. I'm not saying don't get the tattoo; that's your decision. I'm just telling you that I regret what I did. There are ways to have them removed now, but it's still pretty expensive.

If you decide to get the tattoo, I think a small unicorn head or a bird (a blue bird would be pretty) with your daughters name on both sides would look nice. You could also use "Taz."

You can also visit a parlor, from once to several times, to check out what's going on. Most tattoo artists are proud of their work, and won't mind your questions or observations.

Also, most of them will be glad to assist you with the design by keeping future additions to the original tattoo in mind. That way if you have more children in the future you will be able to expand the tattoo you get, instead of going at it willy-nilly.

If you need to make a statement, get personalized license plates. SO many people have tattoos these days that now it's more original not to have any. Your love for your daughters doesn't need to be on your skin - it should be in your heart. There's nothing worse looking than an old tattoo - except maybe an old tattoo with wrinkles. And don't kid yourself. Your tattoos will get old some day.

Why not get their names tattooed in hearts? I honestly don't know; it's your decision. But I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo. Remember: it's there FOREVER. Even when you're old, and your skin is sagging! :o And you don't need your kids' names tattooed on your body to show you care and love them. They wouldn't ASK you to get a tattoo for them, because they love you without it. And by the way, it's impossible to get their exact footprints tattooed on. Think about how the tattoo artist could get the exact print. And also, you're their role model, so keep in mind, you'd better be comfortable with THEM getting a tattoo later in life, after following your footsteps!

Other ideas I've seen for something like that is animals, only with a mother animal and her babies. Then the names and birthdates as well.

The footprints are a cute idea.

Don't do it!
You know... it lasts for life. If you did one 5 years ago, 10 years ago, you think you would still want it/like it?
Your tastes change, your ideas change, your situations change, and more than likely you'll wish you didn't have it in the future.
You have kids... so a tattoo is a good example for them? ( as a tribute?)
It's a trend -

Get a potrait - it's not on your body everyday.

As for getting a tattoo. I have something to say. You want to have it in a place that cannot be seen when you are at work. Some places will not hire you if you have a tattoo, especially office settings.

You should defiantly make sure that is something you want. The footprints seem like they would be kinds large, but it sounds like something meaningful. You could probably get them sized down. The other thing is that you would probably want to just do an outline of the feet because it would take forever to do a exact tattoo of the foot print.

You could consider just getting their names in a very pretty script with their birthdays.

I personally like the look of more colorful tattoos.

Whatever you get make sure it is what you really want and won't regret later! :-)

I agree with some of the others here. Seriously consider the long term results of a tattoo. Will you be embarrassed someday that you got it? Can you put it in a place where only you or someone very intimate to you can see it? People are paying alot of money nowadays to have these things removed. Be carefull and absolutely sure that you want one in the first place.

I don't have a tattoo suggestion...my suggestion is not to get a tattoo. Unless you are over thirty, and are old enough to be completely sure of what you want. I got one as a teenager..only to have it removed (very expensively, and painfully) later....make sure you want something that permanant. Just trying to be helpful. :)
