It should be such a horrible crime to kill anyone, not just a police officer. I'd like to know the answer to this one too!

They say that it is because if you're capable of killing a police officer, you're capable of killing anyone, which I think it's absurd. I'm with you as far as the unfairness of putting this individuals who are no better than the rest of us (and some are quite corrupt, too). I have the same objection to the law putting children in a special status as well, and I don't buy the answer "The children cannot protect themselves" when the reality is that many adults cannot protect themselves, either.

Well, when you kill a police officer, you're taking a life no matter how you look at it. As with any murder, you're submitting that person's family in for a tough, sad life with the death of their loved one.

As for the 'gods' question, you must realize these are the people putting their lives on the line everyday to protect you as well as the rest of the community. They don't have to pick that job, yet they do it.

They typically make less money than a bartender or a truck driver and risk their lives on a daily basis. They are respected, not worshipped.

A human being is a human being. When the police save your sorry *** they are wonderful, but when they do their job, criminals don't like it. It's a HORRIBLE CRIME to kill anyone, loser, even you.
