His heart just stopped - must have been from years of drug and alcohol abuse. It's a shame, because he was clean for a while before his passing.

Did you see Eddie's last match? I did. It was with Mr. Kennedy and Eddie won and embarrassed Mr. Kennedy real nice. Soon after the match ended, Mr. Kennedy hit Eddie over the head from behind with a chair, very hard. Two days later Eddie was dead. I don't think that was just a coincidence. That's just about how long someone with a massive head injury can be kept alive, just long enough for family to say goodbye.
That's not the official story presented by the WWE, however it is what we saw on TV, that night, before they knew the severity of it, and it was shown only twice. Eddie may or may not have done drugs, but he was an exceptionally excellent athlete and in fine shape on that Friday night , with no signs of problems at all.
For him to have just dropped dead while brushing his teeth, or in his sleep, just isn't logical. It is, however, a much sweeter story to sell to the public.
Now they have slowly brought back Mr. Kennedy, first a few half second flashes, then some sheepish interviews, now completely back. I'd be real surprised if we ever see Mr. Kennedy hit someone over the head with a chair again though.
The WWE doesn't seemed to have learned any lesson from Eddie's death, so I'd expect more.

He died of a heart attack. Due to over usage of his heart, and he had a lining of cancer around his heart as well. Also to add to that, his heart had to grow bigger because of the non-stop working he was doing -wrestlin & lifting weights- and that Saturday night his heart just gave out. Some previous drug use is also to blame as it helped him accumulate the lining of cancer. Some believe that the chair shot he got from Ken Kennedy in the ring previously helped cause this, but that has never been proved.
I still can't believe he's gone. We will miss you forever Eddie. Viva La Raza! R.I.P. Eddie!

An autopsy revealed that Guerrero died as a result of acute heart failure, caused by undiagnosed arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and enlargement of the heart as a result of prior anabolic steroid abuse. Although Guerrero had not taken alcohol or illicit drugs for over four years, his past excesses contributed to his heart failure. At the time of his death, he had recently used narcotic painkillers.

All the drugs and alcahol he took earlier in his life took an effect in his heart (making his arterises shrink) and he died in his sleep. He would also train extremely hard not helping his situation. Really sad sense he was supposed to win the title that week.

He was found dead by Chavo Guererro in the morning. Eddie died of heart failure. Yes, years of drug and alcohol abuse probably contributed to his early death.

Vickie Guerrero - "It was heart failure. It was from his past – the drinking and the drug abuse. They found signs of heart disease...he suffered no trauma."

they say a heart attack, but all his drinking and drugs may have been the end. My son met him at a gas station in Connecticut about two weeks before he died and said he looked extremely tired.

Due to past drug abuse and the wear and tear on his body, his heart enlarged and just eventually stopped. He died in his sleep in a hotel.
