I feel they have the right to speak their opinions like the rest of us, but it concerns me that many times they don't educate themselves first and spread misinformation that many people will believe.

I love it because it gets issues out there - a lot of people will listen to a star talk about the issues more than they'll sit down and read a paper or watch the news

I think stars are an unofficial representative or the people. If they're politically well-informed, then I think they have the right to voice their true opinions. That way, it allows the voices of those who agree with them to be heard via the star. It's gotta be legit though. They need to know what they're talkin about.

They have a platform (because of their celebrity status) and they are free to use it. They should realize their responsibilities as role models though and not take it lightly. Personally I think Bono, Sting, Angelina Jolie, and all the other political celebrities are boring and I am not impressed or influenced at all, but many others are.

I get the feeling that most of them look at what isn't popular and speak against it.
Most of the celebrities I've seen have flip-flopped on issues so many times it's not even worth listening to them.

Celebrities are just like people...most are bumbling idiots. That being said, they have the same rights as everyone else, and can speak and have opinions just like everyone else. If you don't like what someone has to say, don't listen/read/watch. When you talk about what they say and give them attention, you give them power. So give attention wisely.

They should stick to what they do best. Weather it be music or movies or TV. Entertain me DO NOT chastise me because I drive an SUV or because I voted for this person. They should shut the FK up.

It is their right to speak out like everyone else, but it doesn't necessarily make them right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
