You have to try and get over it because they can help you but only if you go. If you dont do anything about it, it can turn into a bigger problem. They are there to help you, think about it... how meny other woman do they see every day, its nothing new to them. Don't be afraid they wont hurt you. You'll be happy as soon as you get it over with.

I have a good friend who reacted the same way at the gynecologist for the same reason. Still, it sounds like you should go, because the bleeding indicates some type of problem. Above all, go to a WOMAN gyno, and be honest about your fears and feelings. They see this type of fear a lot, from what I hear. It may be that you can visit once before an exam, and just talk, and that may make it a little easier. Also, bring a friend along--even if they have to wait in the waiting room. Or, a nice gyno will let them come in and hold your hand. I'm serious.

I don't know if you've ever considered Midwifery. It's not just for pregnant women. It can help with gynecological issues. They help with the emotional side of things and are like big sisters. I have found them to be understanding women very gentle with these things. Every state has different laws but in Illinois the Nurse midwives have master level nursing degrees and can do almost everything an ob/gyn could. They would send you to an ob/gyn if you needed help that is beyond the scope of what they can do. It's a great way to start. It's totally more comfortable than having a man doing this kind of thing. They are great listeners and are very thorough. Their offices are usually less intimidating as well.

I had similar problems as a young woman, mine was related to a high activity level combined with iron deficiency. But an OB/GYN diagnosed this. I recommend going to make an appointment to meet/ talk with dr. and make it clear that you do not want a physical exam the first time you are there. The doctor may be willing to prescribe a mild sedative to help you relax before coming back. I also recommend using a "group" of doctors, so that if you are not comfortable with the one you meet, you can try another. Panic will change all your biofeedback (pulse, blood pressure etc) so a good, patient doctor would want you to be relaxed. Ask for recommendations from friends/family. I actually found an OB who said prayers with me when difficult circumstances arose. Keep looking. It's important to regulate and understand your cycle. It will help you feel better in every area of your health, not just periods.

The first two who answered are absolutely right...go to a woman Ob-GYN and take a friend, your sister, your mom...just someone who you trust, with you. You can also ask your regular Dr for a light sedative if you are this panicked about going.

Try to find a woman OB-GYN. Maybe you'll feel more comfortable. You need to go get yourself checked out. It'd be scarier if something is really wrong with you and you didn't get help for it.

You should try a female gyn first off and you need to have an exam. No females like this test! If you are bleeding like you stated you really could be anemic/low iron/tired etc. Please take care of your body and it will take care of you when you are older.
