I wanted to purchase a new graphics card that requires 325W min. and my power supply is 295W max. The problem is when i went to a local best buys... the salesperson told me that for Sony computers, their atx power supply is smaller (custom) to fit into my cramped sony case. Is it true that the ones that are sold to the public different size power supply? How can I get upgrade my power supply which would work with my case?
Sony Desktop PCV-R300C
NMB 295W Power Supply (Model#MJPC-300A2)
thx in advance...

Unfortunately he is correct. Quite a few cmputer companies use custom, smaller size power supplies to save space.

I did a rather extensive web search for your power supply model and came up with NOTHING! Not to mention your Computer Model didn't even show up on SONY's own WEBSITE!

About the only hope I see is *IF* Sony offers a heavier power supply which is quite doubtful.

Send them an E-mail... and PRAY!

Unless, you're willing to hack into your case in hopes of using a standard sized power supply...

my brother has this issue too...

no it isn't possible to upgrade your power supply because the power supply inside the sony system is custom designed. the only way around this is to mod your case

you COULD try the video card (my bro has a video card that requires 350w and runs fine) but you might get artifacts in games after a prolonged period of play.
