Speaking as a woman that HAS a man in prison, I would have to say it is because I knew him prior to him going in. And let me tell you what, prison might not change all men, but it does change some. And my man is one of those cases. When all you have is letters and phone calls and 3 hour visits in a room filled with other people, you learn more about each other than you ever thought you could. It is hard to BS your way through a letter, and it is hard to keep up the front on the phone. My man has done a complete 180 while in. What remains to be seen is what he does when he gets out. Go back to your old ways of life, I am gone. And he knows this. Many people have told me that he will do and say anything to win my affections while he is in there...but the proof is what he does when he gets out.
It's not that there is any attraction to the prison thing (for me), the attraction is to the man that I knew prior to his incarceration and the man that he has become while in there. In all honesty, he needed to be removed from society and from all the stresses of life to learn who he is and become the man that he is today. Without going to prison, I fear that he would have made more mistakes and hurt more people. I think him going to prison was fate for him, and he is exactly where he is supposed to be right now. What he does when he gets out is up to him...and what he does will reflect what I do next.

Nope, it's not out of desperation at all. It's because these women always know exactly where their man is. They don't have to worry about him running around with some hootchie. All he's gonna get in prison is a dude. Also, if you get into a fight you don't have to deal with them like you do when you live with them, you can avoid visiting them in prison, you don't have to take their collect phone calls or open their letters. You don't have to worry about them getting physically abusive. It's about control. Women in those situations have control. Desperation does not enter into the picture.

I personally don't because that's really creepy, I've seen documentaries about prison life and the inmates are not glamorous or pleasant at all.
I've heard or read or something that women like the guys in prison because they're actual "bad boys" and also, they can't exactly go out anywhere to cheat on you.

To tell you the truth, the only reason I'd go with a guy that is/has been in prison is if A) I didn't know about it or B) He has a really wicked looking tattoo and piercings. Girls love guys with tattoos and piercings - especially me.

ok, in all seriousness, I guess some women do this because:
- they can keep tabs on him
- they know he's not sleeping around with another woman
- they can see him on their own time
- he can't keep tabs on them
- they like the fact that he has a TRUE bad bone in his body (sad)
- they don't know how to find a good man.
