Sorry, James...wrong answer. Rigor mortis happens when the body turns from an alkyline state to an acid state. The muscles stiffen to the point that the body will not bend except with excessive force. Rigor passes when the body returns to an alkyline state again.

Also, rigor disappears in the same amount of time that it took to happen. So if it took 6 hours for rigor to be in full effect, then it would take 6 hours for it to pass.

And no, there would not be an erection.

No..not really. In rigor mortis, the muscles basically "lock" into place. The penis isn't muscle, but based on a spongy material. Now it is possible for the blood to pool in there, and maybe give the guy a slight erection, but it won't be a stiffy, like a live man. Good question.

I'm sorry for your loss. The body temp is pretty high 2 hours after he was found. 98.6 is normal body temperature, and the body will start cooling as the moment of death. The rate is about 1 to 1.5 degrees F per hour. I would question if that indicates his temperature was high, if he had a fever at the time.

lol it is sick, but a good question. I'm a cop, and i deal with some dead bodies, in rigormortis the cells begin to loose water, which makes them stiff, but it doesn't give the body an erection. the cock just turns hard in what ever position it is in.
