i have had to put the fluid back in the tube from which the dipstick came out of. Use a small funnel and go slow

There is no fill tube on the 4T40 trans. The inspection/fill plug is on the RH(passenger) side of the trans just below where the axle enters the trans. But make sure the fluid is at operating temp before checking or adding, otherwise the level will be incorrect. The correct level is when the fluid trickles out.

ask pontiac but i dont think there is one these days a friend of mine bought a small mec.2005 and the dealer has to check it when the time comes for a checkup it new and improve so they say.check with the owners manuel or the dealer if you dont want to look thru the manuel

one would say where the dip stick is. but there is no dipstick on your car. thank you GM. so. . . man its been a while, i remember to check it you had to release a plug and if fluid came out then you were ok, but if not to add some. man i just cant remember where. take it to a shop, and just have them flush the tranny fluid, its cheap, and needs to be done every 50k miles anyways.
