Are you serious? I don't think it should even have to be a rule. The idea of it turns my stomach. But I teach secondary students. I suppose if you are a university professor, that might be a different thing. In that case, it's the same reason doctors and lawyers aren't supposed to date their clients. Teachers are in a position of authority over students. This makes students more vulnerable than the teacher. Teachers should not take advantage of their students. Also, it could cloud the judgement of the teacher. It's just not a good practice. Once the student is no longer in the teacher's class, I suppose it could be okay. Still, though, it seems strange to me. I don't think I could ever date a former student, even if we were both adults when we began the student/teacher relationship. Having said that, my sister was a teaching assistant in doctorate program. At that time she was dating a fellow student from her days in undergraduate school, but a few years later, she went back to school and met a former student from her teaching assistant days. This was at another university and they were both students again working on further doctorates. They have been married for about 15 years now, and have 3 children. She didn't really remember him when he was a student in her class, but he remembered her as his teacher. He wasn't really interested then because he was dating really silly girls at the time. My sister was a very serious girl. Not at all silly. And she was quite young to be a teaching assistant because she was able to graduate a couple of years early, due to her serious, dedicated nature.

Teachers enter a class with a purpose of molding and honing the best of the child so that they could be prepared for the future. They do not go inside th classroom with other things in mind other than that and that has to stick for professionalism's sake. When a teacher allows himself to be swayed by feelings that surely doesnt last long, the whole sense of teaching becomes null and everybody will be affected.

Because they have power over their students by way of the grades that they assign (which can adversely affect a students future). They cannot be expected to judge and grade fairly when they are personally involved with a student. Likewise, they can unfairly influence a student/child to do something not in their best interest since they are in a position of authority.

its more suitable on a morale project its what the time-honored public and society has positioned upon us as persons to adhere to. Love is is. yet ofcourse till its in basic terms ot youthful. I dont htink if the fellow is 17 or older. even as a regualr guy falls in love with someone 1/2 his age properly you dont hear the preacher preaching to the choir. or an older women those with a youthful guy, yet some normes are taboo. like apriest and a nun, a instructor and a student, a manager and a co-worker beneth them, its in basic terms the soical component of society as I reported eailer.

Because that gives the student an edge and the teacher is affected by their relationship with the student and thus, is a little impartial on his/her behalf.

Because they are supposed to be educating and protecting their students not having romantic relationships with them, and you want to know this why? You expect your child to be safe at school. I know I do!
