Your thinking of Goofy. Pluto is Mickeys dog...

Pluto is Mickey's dog.

What I love about Disney inconsistency is the fact that Goofy (who wears the hat and drives a car) is ALSO a dog. So we've got Goofy, a walking, talking, car-driving dog, and Pluto, a barking, slobbering pet dog, co-existing in the same universe.

And no one bats an eye.

How a talking mouse keeps a non-talking dog for a pet but also has a talking dog as a friend is beyond me, be it seems to work for them.

Poor Pluto!

According to Wikipedia, Pluto frequently appears as Donald Duck's pet dog too, and was originally called ROVER! Also, he is named after the planet "Pluto", because he was first drawn in 1930, which is when the planet was first discovered.

Pluto is a dog but in Disney everything is possible.....I've seen cartoons where Mickey and Donald both drive a car....so if a dog can't drive a car how come a mouse or a duck can?

And Mickey wears shorts and a shirt then why can't Pluto? Mice don't usually wear clothes either

Mickey's faithful pet dog Pluto starred in 48 of his own cartoons, but also appeared along with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in many of their cartoons. Pluto was created as an actual dog character, with no speaking voice, as opposed to Goofy, who was created as a human character. The dog who would eventually evolve into Pluto made his debut as a bloodhound in the Mickey Mouse cartoon "The Chain Gang" in 1930. Later that year he appeared as Minnie Mouse's dog, Rover, in "The Picnic," and the following year finally became Mickey's dog Pluto in "The Moose Hunt." Favorite sayings: "Grrr ..." "Snort!" "Sniff, sniff, sniff ..." "Bark! Bark!"

Hope you mind didn't fall during those flips. It is Goofy who has the hat and all. Pluto is the Roman God of the Underworld. Why would he need a hat. Though Micky's pet dog is funny and all but he just has a collar like all good dogs.

He is a dog!! Donald Duck also wears a hat and drives a car. What does that have to do with him being a dog? It's a cartoon, just go with it.

Okay, I need to correct you on this. Pluto is Mickey's dog. Goofy is the one nobody really knows what he is. I mean if Pluto is a dog than Goofy can not be one because wouldn't Pluto be able to walk and talk as well. And whatever, Goofy is than Pete has to be as well. They are like related right. We know that Goofy can not be a cow because Clairabell is a cow and Goofy looks nothing like her. So, Humpf, what is Goofy?
