One day the a/c just stopped blowing cold air. It was approaching winter and I was broke, so I didn't worry about it. One day, I had it "on", but just for the blowing air and without ANY reason, it started blowing cold air...for a few minutes. This happened off and on for a few months.
Then one day, it started blowing cool air and it kept doing it for about 2 weeks. Then it stopped and hasn't started again. When it "starts" working, it does it completely on its own. No bumps, hard stops or anything...just cruising along and it starts or stops. The car has about 101k miles, but otherwise works perfectly fine. As I said, the blower works, the heater works, just no cold air. I bought a book on how to repair PT's, but no answer in there. I've asked a few friends... one suggested it could be some sort of electrical or "relay" type short. New fuses didn't help. Someone PLEASE point me in the right direction! It's mighty hot down here in Texas!

it is either the a/c thermostat that tells the compresser to go on/off, or the relay. Unless you meant it starts working all by itself without you pressing the button. Then its a short behind the switch probably. My shop does a/c checkups for 24.95 so call around its not a lot for a quick answer.
