I do this often when I get work-related mass emails in my personal email inbox. I do actually try to read them, but I often don't have the time as they are long and time-consuming to read (they like to send emails with practically all of the days news in them). I just hope they can't figure out that I'm deleting their emails.

Not really. At my work we get these weird ones that require a reply, but you get a warning that it requires a reply. I think it's positive thing that you skip the junk, and I bet your boss does too. A lot of productivity gets lost if you have to spend hours wading through the junk and stay chained to your inbox to stay tapped in.

Some email programs allow the sender to recieve an alert when you read their email. This way you know if someone got what you sent and didn't respond.

I don't think they can tell that you are deleting them. If you just delete them, it won't tell them whether or not you actually recieved the email. Although mailer deamon does send an email if the sender enters an email address that does not exist.

It depends entirely on the program being used. In my case if an email is sent from within the hospital to an address within the hospital, yes they can tell if you have, and a lot of programs have the ability to request a reciept from the person recieving the email to the sender, but if you are getting email from work sent to your yahoo account or something like that then no there is no way for them to know offhand that I am aware of.

no people can not tell if you deleted email without reading it first. that is one of the reasons they say dont open mail you dont recognize to lower your chances of spam because no response or an unopened email leaves them to wonder if the address is still existing. but once opened they know. hope this helps.

Not unless they have asked for a read receipt, which takes a higher-end e-mail client. If you use Outlook and Outlook Express you can set it to always never return a read receipt.

No they cannot tell, they can only tell if you have received them so don't worry so much! Delete as many as you desire, you don't have to read them. Good luck!

Get rid of your preview pane. That way, the e-mails don't even open unless you double click on them.
