For a while I've been experiencing a weird discharge from my throat (glands). There was a disturbing feeling in my throat and when I opened my mouth to see what's there, I noticed a small, round, yellowish "ball" which smelled awful, like putrid. What could it be?

Sorry to hear about your discomfort in this matter. There are a lot of things it could be, from swollen glands, to sinus infection, to blocked ear drainage. The best advice one could probably give you is to seek the advice of your Physican. It is something that you should get checked out, just in case it is something serious. Better to be safe then sorry. Good luck to you and I hope things get better really soon for you. :)

I'm sorry I can't remember what this is called off the top of my head. I wouldn't worry though.I work for and ear, nose, and throat doctor and we see this all the time. It could be post nasal drip, food, etc. It just builds up and then comes out when you cough sometimes. I know it smells awful and might be kinda embarrassing, but it's nothing to worry about. That being said, if your tonsils are swollen or your throat is sore, I'd check with the doctor just to be sure. I'm sure your fine :-)

This is definitely a reason to go see a doctor. A young woman I once knew died of septicemia (blood poisoning) brought on by severe tonsillitis.

Postnasal drip. Maybe you are getting over a sinus infection and the drainage went down the back way.

see your doctor about it. it's not a disease or anything. i can't remember the name of it, but we briefly covered it in my anatomy and illness class. go ahead and get rid of that ball thing, use listerine twice daily, and see your doc.
