My job put up a firewall and i want to go onto myspace.
Don't be lame and tell me that there is a reason why it is on there, blah blah blah bullshit. If you know, you know. if not then go to the next question.

A firewall shoudln't stop myspace.. thats just port 80. You are probably dealing with some sort software on the proxy (or router but less likely) that is stopping the site. There are many sites on the web that allow you to get around these, http://www.freeproxy.ru/en/free_proxy/cgi-proxy.htm is a site with a list of free sites that can do that.

Well, I know, and I am STILL going to chide you for being a s h i t head, and screwing around on your job, when they PAY you for your time!

Anyway, you can learn a bit about it in a search of Google, which runs Linux, on 100,000 servers in clusters, as does Microsoft.com and Hotmail.com on 15,000 Linux servers each... and Linksys, Aruba, along with most dedicated firewalls, are all Linux or BSD based for corporate and private use, which should tell you where you need to go to learn the lessons necessary... and, search the Linux mags on line... http://lwn.net

http://livecdlist.com has some 310 distros. check out IPCOP (on an old machine so you learn at home!)... and also, DSL with it's tools, or one of the forensic distros... I prefer PHLAK

There is a reason why it's there, and if anyone is being lame, it's you. Your employer isn't paying you to go places on his computer they don't want you to go to. An without knowing what firewall he is using, I would have no idea how to defeat it. If I did know, I wouldn't tell you.

Ask your supervisor if they can reprogram the server to allow myspace.Otherwise wait untill you are at home on your own computer to visit myspace.

If you don't know about port forwarding and policies, then you're the wrong guy for the job.

Tell your boss you're the wrong guy, so you don't screw it up and get fired.
