humming U2 songs as i search, i still haven't found what i'm looking for... how long to sing this song? " well it's gotta be here somewhere, i'm almost down to the last straw..."
searching high and low for someone or something grows fatiguing. whether it's a special someone, a love that you're sure is out there somewhere, or a missing bill that you KNOW was here a minute ago, there's a sense of resignation that accompanies the search. should i put it aside for awhile? {yeah, THAT's gonna happen!} should i let it come to me? {use the force, luke!} but when all looks darkest, don't despair. there's that lovely AH-HA moment when you DO find the needle, and the search and frustration all seems worth it. i found my needle, i love her, and the search was (necessary and long but) entirely worth the result. {i can say that now.}
i hope you find your needle too.

Actually don't tell anyone because I am shy and don't want the publicity, but I have found the needle. I was sitting in the barn knitting and dropped the needle in the haystack. Got a microscope and started looking. It took about 10 years of looking, but I found it!!!

Once on a beach in St. Martin at night my wife lost her hard contact lens in the sand as we were walking near the surf.
I took a deep breath, let it out slowly, said a quick prayer, and started looking. It took 30 minutes or so but we did find this round piece of clear plastic in the middle of the beach.
Awesome is how we both felt and grateful too.

The television show "Mythbusters" on the Discovery Channel tried just this. They used all this machinery to separate the hay out, and they found it using several designs.

That just a saying. Like can you find my pencil, it's lost. Answer... since it can't be found, can't find a needle in a hay stack.
