Go to lasvegas.com and search their hotel listings. Book your vegas hotel online at that hotel's web site for the best deal. Book your flight separate.

my new favorite is the South Coast at the southern end of the Strip. It's a few minutes from most of the action, but it's fairly new, clean, and still smells good. The rooms are beautiful and big, and they have bowling, movies, kids' club (you can leave your kids for a couple of hours), and bingo. They also have some very good restaurants. Prices depend on the day of the week, but they have a good weekday rate. If you don't decide to stay there, at least visit while you're there.

If you do decide on the Orleans (same chain, older hotel), be sure you eat at Don Miguel's. It's the best mexican food in town, and it's inexpensive. I make the four-hour drive from home to Vegas about twice a year for their fideo soup! (I have friends there too, so I usually visit them at the same time!)

Have a great time!

There are a few in the class you're looking at; The Orleans, Palace Station, Stratosphere, and Sahara. When you do your searching and get your rates pick the one of these that's cheapest. Sam's Town is another but it's about 10 minutes from the strip. Go to the website of each and take a look at what they have to offer. Unique thing about Sam's Town is it has a movie theater and a bowling alley along with all the other standard features. See the link below for user reviews.

Reasonable? Best Western (trust me, EVERYTHING in Vegas is 10 times swankier than elsewhere).

Nice? Luxor.

Heavenly? The Bellagio.

Just make sure you stay near the current main strip (it'll save you on taxi fare).

I liked the Sahara on the strip. It is older and nothing extravagant. However, the monorail that travels up and down the strip stops right behind the hotel so anyplace you need to go is a short train ride away.

The prices are fairly cheap.

Try the Hilton Vacation Club next to the Hilton casino... it's a time share but same guarantees as the regular Hilton chain. Reasonable, clean, and very affordable.

Caesars is a huge step above MGM! the region is larger, the rooms are nicer, the club is larger, etc. you're an basic walk to maximum of golf equipment, eating places, shows, casinos, etc. MGM could have an enhanced pool area, and it has a exciting pool social gathering (yet you are able to bypass to the pool social gathering in spite of while you're no longer a customer).

The absolute best "bang for your buck" hotel and casino is The Orleans.

It is off strip, but thy have shuttles going every 30 minutes.
