Yes they do. Laws make it very difficult on them but there are still ways to get around the laws. A woman in corporate America will have to fight to make the same wage as the man.

Yes, I have seen bias when I worked.
When as a female I worked for a male boss who thought he was being kind and considerate he did the following: first he
asked me to go home to ask my husband if it was OK for me to take a larger than normal raise because it would mean more responsibility and then he asked me if I had discussed it with my husband when I resigned!
Another male boss told me that he had never given so much money (as a bonus) to a female before.
My first job as a personnel assistant I got because they figured with my college degree and moderate typing speed, that i could learn to use a dictaphone.
Another company reprimanded a female for wearing a pants suit (this was many years ago!) while not mentioned that she also went bra-less.
Women had to quit work when they were in their 5th month of pregnancy.
It's not so bad today, but the bias still remains. T
here is a natural human tendency to want to work with people like yourself. Those who recruit are human so there is a natural bias to hire those that you feel most comfortable with, either because they are of the same age, the same sex, the same ethnicity.

Well yes but not an unfounded bias. Male workers don't get pregnant and take 3 or 4 months off at a time. Male workers don't decide to drop their job in order to be a stay at home mom after the company has invested thousands of dollars in training them. And male workers don't get bitchy once a month.

Of course there's a bias. Men and women are different. So are ethnicities. Can you really blame an employer for noticing these differences?

Yes, I've seen it quite a bit. When I was a single parent, my boss knew he could push me and treat me poorly and I had to take it because I needed the job (which paid pretty decent) to support my kids.
