What makes you say that? Do you mean gross to do? Look at? or someone else said it was gross?
There is nothing wrong with masterbation, its been around for the whole time that people have been around, even some animals do it.
You get the urge to feel pleasure and go for it. Kinda like an itch you just have to scratch... probably not as openly as that, but its there.
You have to be comfertable with it, and its got to be the safest sex there is huh... not only that, you control the speed of pleasure and the intensity... and the bonus... you control how long it takes to orgasim...

Masterbation is not gross...it's just the misconception of the way certain people were brought up thinking. It could be of their religious backgrounds and lot of other factors. Otherwise, it's perfectly normal and healthy.
