I am the HR department with my current employer, but I despised the HR manager at my previous employer. She had a firm hand when it came to enforcing labor laws and company policy within the branches of the company but did a lousy job of standing up and saying, "You can't do that. It's illegal" when the company discriminated against an employee with a disability without attempting to provide reasonable accommodations. I see her as Darth Vader - a seemingly cruel dictator, but also the puppet of a more evil person to whom they always say, "Yes, Master."

One company I worked for had a truly incompetent HR "manager." It was easier to do things on my own (benefits, direct deposit, etc) than to deal with her. Ella Beckstead really sucked. Thank god she got fired after 30 years.

I am HR...I love talking with the employees that come in. I love helping them, and solving their problem. Never a dumb question....however when I deal with their supervisors? That is when I get frustrated! They think they know more than I do!

If you mean " HMAN RESOURCES" ...It is usually a good thing, as they can sometimes work with you if you are having problems at home that are causing you to miss work .
