i have an altec lansing headset with mic. It worked fine on my dell inspiron which i just replaced witha latitude d820. I can hear others conversations but they cannot hear me. volume is on, device is recognized and says working properly. it is an integrated audio resident on the motherboard but I am at a loss. I returned it and got a new one thinking it was possibly the headset itself but that did not correct the problem. Is there another setting somewhere i should be configuring? Thanks

Along with making sure it is not muted, make sure it is plugged in to the right outlet in the computer. I run into this all the time, and I have Altec Lansing as well. If that is not the problem, make sure that the microphone is on. Good Luck!!

Check to see if the Microphone Volume is MUTED.

Go to CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES, then Click on ADVANCED.

Make SURE the Microphone is NOT MUTED.
