it means the same.
If I obey traffic laws, and stop at a stop sign, then I conform to the law. I am the same as the law.
If I go to the mall and wear jeans and a sexy top, then Im conforming to the average clothing seen at the mall. I conformed to the style. I am the same as the style mainly seen.

Ooh! I know! See, everyone says I'm the biggest non-conformist. It means I don't like to have the kind of lifestyle, habits, etc. that most people consider "normal".
