He lost his home in the LA quake as a kid. And yes he has always been rather foolish.

He would be better off in one of the other cities that were damaged. Try Mississippi or Texas. New Orleans has too many loosers, gangsters and just plain bad people. I hope he lives through it.

I don't even own a TV. People do seem a little hi-strung, though.

My Aunt and Uncle went to help in New Orleans for a few months. And we live up here in Canada. Pretty bold move, I think.

Bless him! My daughter lives in Waveland, Mississippi. Katrina destroyed the whole town. If it wasn't for the volunteers, nothing would have been accomplished. She and her neighbors got nothing from their insurance companies even though they carried hurricane insurance and the government help that you hear so much about has been quite a joke.

Well, as long as he was being responsible about it, like making sure he has the basics covered and isn't leaving a pregnant wife and 3 kids to go down there, I think it's great that he's being so altruistic.

Good for him. I wish that more of us would be brave enough to give up everything to help our less unfortunate fellowman. It would be the quintessential answer to a whole lot of suffering.
